MOHAN SINGH PHAGURA was born in a village called Ramgarh in Punjab, India on the 9th February 1952.
At the tender age of 14 he and his younger brother Harjinder travelled with their father Chain Singh to the UK for a better life and future for them and their siblings.
Having no choice but to work they commenced their working life in England and worked as labourers or any job they could find in order to call their brothers, sister and their mother over to join them. After a few years of hardship and sacrificing meal times, the fruits of their labour paid off and the family were reunited.
MSP (Our King) had a love of vehicles of all kinds, which helped as in his early years he drove buses, HGV/lorries and then taxis to support his brothers to help set up businesses along with his parents. This also allowed him to put food on the table for his family.
He realised early on his adult years he would very much like to work for himself and started investing in businesses such as shops, post offices and fish and chip shops – deep down he always knew he was his own boss. The entrepreneur was definitely within him from a young age!
In 2005 MSP moved to Suffolk with his wife and lived with his sons. He was living his best life travelling with and sometimes, without his wife between the UK and India. He built his dream mansion in India on his plot of land, which he had saved up for and also encouraged his sons to invest in. In his latter years, this proved to be his go-to, his second home, his happy place, his haven and most recently where he took his final breath and left the physical world peacefully leaving behind his loving, caring wife 😢and family in shock in his sudden death.
He had thoroughly enjoyed his early retirement for the past 16 years or so, travelling mostly between India and UK and doing what he loved – spending time with his wife of 52 years, children, grandchildren, extended family and friends and not to mention partying….yet he still took timeout to spread the love, positivity and help those in need, including charities and individual causes.
One thing we have learnt, MSP (our King) never forgot his roots or where he came from.
He worked very hard but they say behind every successful man there’s a strong woman which was definitely true as his first and true supporter was his wife (Amrik) who was his backbone.
He gave as much as he could to those who were less fortunate but never conveyed his generosity to others. He was a selfless individual who would help others before himself without any reward or personal gain and never expected anything in return.
He always said, “continue to work hard to better yourself but never knock anyone down on your way up, because you never know you may one day need their help”.
With MSP it was never about what you know but who you know to a certain extent, which clearly showed through the years as he was a very loyal and popular man, not only with his family and friends but also the community, in both countries. He was a wise man and so many people looked up to him for his wealth of wisdom and experience.
The one thing MSP (our king) was absolutely passionate about was he would help those in need but made sure he wasn’t taken advantage of, especially in India as he knew corruption is at the forefront of every organization or business there, hence the rich become richer and the poor poorer. He would ask what was needed and ensure the right help was given; he would take it upon himself to travel to these places and instead of handing out the money he would deliver the goods needed or carry out the work himself. eg. he once went to a funeral in India and realized there was no actual road, but a very muddy dirt track (he felt the families have enough on their plate having lost a loved one and to then have to walk through a muddy road should be the least of their problems) so he organized for the materials and laborers to build a road.
Furthermore, he invested in the local school so the children could have proper tables and chairs to sit on, repainted and arranged for the classrooms to have shelters so they didn’t have to sit on the cold floor in the winter months or swelter in the heat – all this as his aim was to create a warm welcoming educational experience so the children would engage in learning as he felt education was of utmost importance in life.
He invested in the local Gurdwara (place of worship) where he arranged for CCTV to be installed, purchased & donated more dishes, cups and cutlery so they could feed more people at any one time and regularly donated food ie, bags of flour, rice, lentils etc
He would also arrange for regular food stalls to be put up and feed the poor in honour of all his grandchildren on their birthdays.
MSP contributed to poor families to help marry their daughters. He even took the responsibility and adopted a few in the UK that came from India who had no family or financial support and helped towards settling and marrying them. The importance of girls and women was such that he even paid the tuition fees of many poor families to help their daughters get an education.
The most recent charitable donations went to the ‘Farmers/Kisan’ protests in India where he made numerous trips to provide them with haulages of food, blankets and outerwear to keep them warm in the winter months and a roti (chapatti) maker along with fridges and fans to each checkpoint which is to be donated to Gurudwaras (temple) once no longer needed.
So to sum up MSP (our King)
He spent lots of time with family and friends
He supported family, friends and strangers whenever he could
He supported charitable causes
He worked hard
He enjoyed his life, and made sure that family and friends did too
He made the effort to talk to, and get to know anyone who crossed his path, and was able to make some sort of a positive connection with them
He spoke his mind, so people knew exactly where they stood with him
He cracked jokes at times, there was never a dull moment with him
He showed a lot of courage and bravery
He showed us what unconditional love is, and how empowering it feels to be loved for being exactly who you are ❤
And therefore it’s only right that we his family continue his legacy and his charitable causes in his honour.
So our Mission will be to continue the good deeds….No one is bigger or better we are all God’s children, we came with nothing we will go with nothing….
our purpose whilst here is to help others and each other if we are fortunate enough to be able to do so in any which way we can. This is by starting with the two projects. The first one which we were unfortunate enough to experience ourselves firsthand is the crematorium. This work is underway and it is currently being renovated and being made fit for its purpose.
The second project is the school as after visiting ourselves, we have arranged for all the children to be supplied with a uniform and a pair of shoes, along with stationery and school bags. School uniform plays a key role in promoting pride, self-confidence, and a feeling of belonging within the student body so this was important for us to ensure was provided. These factors contribute to students’ wellbeing, removing the additional pressures of deciding what to wear and added stress of meeting the expectations of their peers.
Also an up to date filtered water system is to be installed and maintained on a regular basis, too.
All projects will be continually monitored and maintained regularly. All further projects will be assessed on individual merits as and when they arise.
We will continue to help the vulnerable most at risk and we will continue to help and educate young women to fight for their rights and prosper. We pledge to help and continue to feed the poor in a country where the majority might not know where their next meal is coming from or whether a meal is actually coming. 🙏🏾

Our Projects
Ramgarh Crematorium
One of our first projects is a crematorium in Ramgarh, Punjab, which we at the foundation were unfortunate enough to experience ourselves as being in desperate need of renovation.
We will be investing funds into making the facilities fit for purpose, modernising equipment and providing training where needed to make it state-of-the-art and what the people of the area deserve to say goodbye to their loved ones.
A local school in Ramgarh which was in desperate need of a new water filtration system. After visiting we arranged for all the children to be supplied with a uniform and a decent pair of shoes, along with all stationery required and school bags. School uniform plays a key role in promoting pride, self-confidence, and a feeling of belonging within the student body. These factors contribute to students’ wellbeing, removing the additional pressures of deciding what to wear and added stress of meeting the expectations of their peers.
